Most people have always believed that Friday the 13th is bad luck. However, it did not stop a lot of anglers from hitting the river today. At derby headquarters not a fish was seen until early afternoon. We're thinking its going to be a bad luck day for those that have spent many hours patiently waiting for the big one.
However, for women like Vicki Otte who pulled in a 29.76lb king that put into 3rd place in the Pro Division, it was a really lucky kind of day! Michelle Bacon also shared the good luck day by weighing in a 28.22lb king that put her in 2nd place in the Female Division. Another woman, Frances Savaglia took the lead in the Military Division with a 30.50 pounder! Wow, I think women rule today!!
Whether its luck or skill, Friday the 13th proved to be a great day for the ladies! Maybe the guy who is tagging fish ought to take a woman out on the boat.....we could have lots of tagged fish!!

Almost six days into the derby and not one youth (fisherman under 16) has brought up a fish to add to the prize board until today. At 2:30pm when angler John Klein said he had had enough! It was time to hook a big one and indeed he did. A 29.70lb king is now leading the youth division. Do you think he'll keep the lead??? Four Two more days will tell! I think he's getting nervous!
